Solving equations with decimals uses the same process as the other algebra that you have studied.
Step 1 – Simplify any part of the equation that can be simplified
Step 2 – Use Inverse Operations to get the n alone.
Step 3 – Check your answer with substitution
4.2(3.1) = n - 12.7
13.02 = n - 12.7
13.02 + 12.7 = n + (12.7 - 12.7)
25.72 = n
4.2(3.1) = 25.72 - 12.7
13.02 = 13.02
n = 25.72
