Quadrant I
A coordinate plane is formed by horizontal and vertical lines and is used to locate points.

An ordered pair names the location of a point by using two numbers (x,y).

Notice that x comes before y in the alphabet so it is first in the ordered pair.

Notice the y has a vertical line - it describes the number of blocks to count vertically!
